WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) – West Carrollton and Centerville will merge 911 dispatch centers.

West Carrollton approved the five-year contract during its meeting Tuesday evening.

“Merging with Centerville seems to be the option that provides us with the closest level to our current service at no increased costs,” said Brad Townsend, city manager. “In addition, Centerville will aim to hire our remaining dispatchers to help make the transition smoother.”

Officials say it will save money since the city won’t have to buy new equipment and would reduce staffing costs by as much as $20,000.

The transition should be complete by May 1.
