VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton company is making a move to Vandalia.
Superior Abrasives will build a new manufacturing plant at the corner of Peters Pike and Fieldstone Way.
The 84,000 square foot facility will be constructed at the Stonequarry Crossings on a 12 acre plot of land, doubling the size of its current location on Wadsworth Road in Dayton.
Construction is scheduled to begin in late March. It will take about 10 months to complete.
“We’re thrilled to be welcoming Superior Abrasives to the Vandalia business community,” said Vandalia Mayor Arlene Setzer. “This is a company with an excellent reputation, and I believe they’ve made a very smart choice to locate their operations in Stonequarry Crossings.”
Superior Abrasives makes products for the industrial metalworking industry.
The new plant is not too far from the current location, so administrators say the move should have little impact on employees.
“The plant will be only six miles from our current location, so the move will have minimal impact on our current employees’ commutes,” said Lynne Henson, president of Superior Abrasives. “We also like the building’s proximity to the airport and I-70/75 interchange, and the fact that it will be located near a residential neighborhood. Our company has always built strong community connections, and we expect that tradition to continue in Vandalia.”
The company currently employs 85 full-time employees. It expects to hire about 25 more over the next three years.
