UD employee is both patient & researcher for M.S.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — An online portal that gathers health data from multiple sclerosis patients around the country is helping create new models for research.

Laura Kolaczkowski talked with Five on 2 about her efforts to fuel MS research on Friday. Laura has worked at the University of Dayton for more than 25 years. She is in her early 60’s and was diagnosed with MS in 2008.

Kolaczkowski now contributes to the portal, “iConquerMS.” Researchers use the data they try to answer questions such as: What causes MS?, Which treatments work best for MS?, and Can MS be prevented? This is an entirely new model for research, and it is entirely patient-centered.
