DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Several pounds of illegal marijuana are off the street following a raid in Dayton. Besides the marijuana, Dayton police found heroin, guns and money inside a house while executing a search warrant. Three people were arrested.

Early Monday morning the narcotics enforcement unit raided a house in the 300 block of Delaware St in West Dayton. 8 people were inside the house including a toddler.

Police say one man tried to flush the heroin down a sink. He was arrested for possession. Two other people were arrested for outstanding warrants. Not everyone in the house was arrested, but more charges are possible.

Sgt. John Sullivan with the Dayton Police Narcotics Enforcement Unit said, “The way the courts and prosecutors work you got to be able to pin the drugs on somebody. You just can’t. Just because there inside the house doesn’t mean everybody goes to jail. You have to be able to prove that you are guilty of being in possession or the dealing of the drugs.”

Police say it was a neighbor’s tip that led them to this raid. They say those tips act as their ears and eyes and help them keep communities safe.
