WPAFB, Ohio (WDTN) – Bidding is about to get underway for the partial replacement of a runway at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

A spokesperson puts the price tag between $5-million and $10-million for repairs.

Repairs are needed for the taxiway in front of the main air traffic control tower.

The main runway was last repaved in 1984.

The Air Force base is concerned the aging pavement could break loose and get pulled into aircraft engines.

The Army Corps of Engineers says it will begin taking bids for the project on February 19. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
