Miss Black Ohio encourages mentors

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Miss Black America Ohio is working to encourage more women to be “big sisters” to young girls. She said having a positive role model and mentor can make a big difference in helping girls grow with confidence, and feel like they’re part of a sisterhood. Jelisa Barringer won her title in October. One of her upcoming events will be at Central State University, where she will be a guest judge for the ‘My Black is Beautiful’ speech competition.
