General Wolfenbarger to retire from AFMC

WPAFB, Ohio (WDTN) – The commander of the Air Force Materiel Command is retiring. Her replacement is already lined up.

Commander General Janet Wolfenbarger is retiring a little more than two years after taking the post.

The President nominated Lt. General Ellen Pawlikowski to the rank of general with the assignment to take over as head of AFMC.

The announcement is posted on the command’s web site.

Wolfenbarger became the Air Force’s first female four-star general in 2012. She has more than 34 years of service.

Pawlikowski is currently the Military Deputy of the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition at the Pentagon.

She must be first be confirmed in the Senate, but she would oversee 80,000 people and manage $60-billion annually.

No date was announced for the retirement and change of command.
