DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Sometimes planning for Valentine’s Day dates can be hard work, but at one Dayton attraction, doing the work takes place during the date.
In a place where the city of love meets the City of Dayton. It’s that same love that brings couples together for a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
“It’s standard to go out to dinner. Grab some drinks. Or go see a show, or go to a movie. That’s all well and good. Here, we have an alternative,” said Daniel Madero, Assistant Manager.
Madero says one hour sessions at Proto Build Bar costs $60.00. Dates can sip on wine, while assembling a ‘love tester’ kit.
The finished product is designed for you and your date to hold your thumbs
on copper plates.
From there. your love for each other is measured on a scale of LED lights.
For untrained hands, an opportunity to grow your love while honing in on a new skill set.
“There’s always an intimidation factor that comes across with something that’s going to be 752 degrees.”
That’s certainly one way to heat a relationship up, a pen-like device called a soldering iron will be in your hands for the project, but don’t worry.
“Luckily we have a lot of more experienced people to help you through some of those more dangerous aspects.”
It is a project that sparks more than the finished product.
“There’s communication involved. There’s a sense of trust that you are putting into each other’s hands.”
The Proto Build Bar opened in October. Think of it as a hodgepodge of coffee shop mixed with a 3D printing area where your imagination is the only limit for what you can design.
Aside from the printing, you can solder together do-it-yourself projects ranging from
LED dice to a digital watch.
As for the love tester kit, Madero says spots are still available for Friday and Saturday night.
