MORAINE, Ohio (WDTN) – It wasn’t the bright purple exterior that caught a neighbor’s eye, but smoke billowing from an ice cream shop Wednesday morning.
The Dairy Dreem on South Dixie Drive in Moraine caught on fire.
Fire crews say the man who runs the car wash next door spotted smoke coming from the roof around 10:30 a.m. and called for help.
Investigators say damage is mostly confined to the back of the building. Firefighters were poking holes in the roof to try and determine the source.
There was no one in the building at the time. The exact cause is under investigation.
The owner says he was planning to open for the season on March 2, but that will most likely be delayed.
He stresses to every sweet tooth waiting for the ordering window to swing open that the Dairy Dreem lives.
The sign that notoriously sits out front offering up advice and goodies for sale is sure to let us all know when the ice cream is served for the season.
