WILMINGTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police dog Karson is well rested and ready to slowly get back to work.
The K9 is back home after two months on the run.
His handler says on Karson’s Facebook page that after a lot of sleep and a lot of hearty meals, it is time to train.
Wilmington police officers plan to put Karson through some training exercises Wednesday on the dog’s journey back to service.
That journey began more than two months ago when Karson got away from a kennel.
Multiple searches ensued as volunteers flooded the area searching for the dog.
Karson lost a lot of weight during his time away, but his handler says he hasn’t lost his appetite and is eating a lot since his homecoming.
A welcome home celebration is planned for Friday, February 27 t 6:30 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church at 55 Megan Drive in Wilmington.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
