USAF Marathon named the best

Thousands participate at Air Force Marathon

WPAFB, Ohio (WDTN) – The Air Force Marathon was named the best of the 15 Best Fall Marathons in the U.S. according a popular fitness web site.

We first told you about the honor Tuesday on 2 NEWS. Race organizers are now responding to the Daily Burn webs site’s honor.

“We’re so honored to be named to this list.” said Race Director Rob Aguiar, “It really is a testament to the team here at Wright-Patterson including our wonderful volunteers who put on an event that runners really enjoy and keep coming back to.”

The web site says the marathon was chosen partly due to its relatively flat course, flyovers and aviation sites.

Registration for this year’s marathon is open, but slots are selling out quickly. The 5K is 75% sold out, while the 10K is at 80% capacity.

The Air Force Marathon is in its 19h year. It will be held at the National Museum of the United States Air Force on September 19, 2015. A sports and fitness expo will precede it on September 17 and 18 at the Wright State University Nutter Center.
