BETHEL TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – Officials with the Miami County Sheriff’s Office confirm that they are conducting a financial investigation into alleged theft of funds from the Bethel Wee Stingers youth football team.

Board members of the pee wee league brought their concerns to deputies when they “noticed irregularities in finance,” according to Board President Carlton Gibbs.

A recently fired employee, who has held the treasurer position for several years, is suspected of using invoices in order to commit theft from Bethel Schools.

Sheriff’s Office says the theft is of a substantial amount of money and their officials are currently conducting interviews and looking to discover what took place.

Meanwhile, President Gibbs told 2 NEWS’ Beairshelle Edmé that all employees and staff, “work for the kids and as a board, we’re upset by this” investigation.

He hopes as the ivnestigation is underway that the community will continue to support the league and its endeavors.
