DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A jury has reached a decision in the case of a registered sex offender charged again with sexually assaulting a minor.
A jury found Craig Turpin guilty on four of five counts. Turpin was found guilty on two counts of rape, one count of kidnapping, and one count of gross sexual imposition.
Investigators said Turpin raped an eight-year-old girl. Prosecutors said he lived in an apartment complex with the girl and her family, becoming friends with her and her brother. While the mom went to work, police said Turpin invited the kids over to his place. During testimony, the boy told the court Turpin gave him money to buy candy while he stayed home with the girl.
Turpin was convicted in a previous, unrelated case involving a minor and has been a registered sex offender since 2000.
Sentencing is scheduled for March 9.
