Kettering names new police chief

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – The City of Kettering named its new police chief Tuesday.

Christopher “Chip” Protsman will take the helm April 1. He will replace retiring chief James O’Dell.

Protsman comes to Kettering after serving on the Lima Police Department for 20 years.

“Major Protsman impressed us with his professionalism, deep commitment to community relations and his excellence in operational leadership,” said Kettering City Manager Mark Schwieterman. “We are confident that he is a great fit for Kettering and will be an outstanding leader for the Kettering Police Department.”
