Driver robbed at gunpoint outside Dayton truck stop

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A truck driver was robbed at gunpoint outside of a Dayton truck stop.

Police were in the area of Edwin C Moses Boulevard around 5 p.m. Friday when they were flagged down by the 39-year-old victim.

The man told police he stopped at Love’s Truck Stop to fuel up and eat. He said he parked his truck in the back lot and as he walked towards the store, he noticed two men who appeared to be homeless approaching drivers and begging for money.

The victim said after he ate and left the store he was approached by one of the men as he was getting back into his truck. He told police the man asked him for money, and when he refused, the suspect pulled out a gun, placed it to his head, and ordered him to give him all of his cash. The victim complied and handed over $220. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim said the second man was not there during the robbery.

Police searched the area for suspects but didn’t find anyone. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 937-222-7867.
