Victim identified in fatal crash on I-75 near Troy

UPDATE:  The Miami County Coroner’s Office identifies the victim as Philip Smith, 33.


TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – One person was killed and two others hurt in a single-car crash on Interstate 75 late Monday night.

The crash occurred around 8:45 when the driver of a southbound vehicle crashed into a guardrail. The vehicle overturned and ended up on its side.

At least one of the victims was trapped in the vehicle.

Firefighters and medics from Troy responded and summoned two CareFlight medical helicopters.

The highway was shut down at State Route 55 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol so that the helicopters could land.

Troopers confirm that there has been one fatality. Two other people were taken to the hospital. OSP dispatchers do not believe their injuries are life-threatening.

The crash remains under investigation.
