DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Ohio Division of Wildlife says it is receiving a growing number of complaints about Canada geese.

ODW says the population of the birds in Ohio is now 130,000. That figure is double what it was 20 years ago and is expected to continue to grow.

Wildlife experts say an abundance of water and grass keeps the geese flourishing. They also have few natural predators.

The state logged 2,000 complaints in the last two years. It got only 100 in 1990.

The biggest complaint is the droppings left behind on sidewalks, grass and landscaping.
