Dayton man charged with sneaking weapons, ammo into hospital

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WDTN) – A Dayton man is in jail for allegedly taking a loaded gun, knives, and ammunition into a Memphis, Tennessee children’s hospital.

Police said Aaron Cauley, 29, took a loaded Sig Sauer P250 pistol, two hunting knives, and additional ammunition into the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

NBC affiliate WMC reports Cauley’s daughter was a patient at the hospital receiving treatment for a brain tumor. Police said Cauley threatened the patient’s mother with the gun and later threatened the woman’s other child.

The mother alerted security who searched Cauley. Police said they found the weapons and ammunition hidden in a backpack.

Cauley is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $85,000 bond on an initial charge of aggravated assault.
