SPRINGFIELD. Ohio (WDTN) – Clark county sheriff Gene Kelly got to show off some unique skills Thursday in a first of its kind auction.

Kelly says in his 28 years as sheriff, this is the first time he’s been the auctioneer at a probate court-ordered event. He auctioned a 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle and a 2002 Ford Motor Home.

Kelly says it’s a skill that’s come in handy during his a career.

“I really enjoy it and I used to work with local auctioneers in Greene County, Clark County and other counties, Franklin County. Doing household auctions, things like that,” said sheriff Kelly. “I’ve been a licensed auctioneer about 15 years. I do a lot of charity work and I really enjoy that.”

Kelly also does auctions for foreclosed and tax properties and civil disputes.
