Investigators probe firefighter death

CINCINNATI (AP) – State and local authorities in Ohio are investigating the cause of a blaze that led to the death of a veteran Cincinnati firefighter.

Fire chief Richard Braun says department policies and procedures will be reviewed to try to learn from the death.

Braun says the department is mourning the loss of firefighter Daryl Gordon, on the force for 29 years, calling him a hero.

Authorities the 54-year-old Gordon died at a hospital Thursday morning after apparently falling down an elevator shaft while fighting the blaze at King Towers complex.
