DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – According to a study by the brookings institute Dayton’s commute is among shortest in U.S.
The study shows that the average distance people drive to work here has declined by more than 20 percent.
Deputy Director of Public Works, Steve Finke, says it may have something to do with the road system.
“It provides so that you have a lot of alternate routes if 75 gets blocked, or if there’s congestion on 75. There are a lot of good alternate routes right off the highway that run north and south that you can use that have plenty of capacity to get you around,” said Finke. “So there is just a lot of ways to get around here in the city.”
Finke says they are working to add more lanes to downtown streets… to help them flow even better.
