A partner for The Kettering Backpack Program

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Kettering Backpack Program will be able to hire its first paid employee this year, thanks to the generous donations and support of community partners like WilmerHale, a local law firm. The Kettering Backpack Program is a nonprofit organization started in 2006 that’s dedicated to fighting childhood hunger within Kettering City Schools. The organization says nearly 43 percent of Kettering school kids are on free and reduced lunch programs. Their goal is to send those kids home with enough healthy food and snacks to get them through the weekend. The organization currently serves 525 students on a weekly basis. The law firm provides financial support, volunteer service, in-kind donations, and pro bono legal representation.
