DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Statistics show that a report of child abuse is made every 10 seconds in this country. 1,700 children will die this year as a result of abuse or neglect.
Those stats are the reason April is a very important month. It is National Child Abuse Awareness Month.
Montgomery County leaders made a public proclamation Thursday committed to saving children from abuse.
Leaders asked residents to report suspected abuse. They say it can be hard to take that step, but it could save a young life.
They also designated April 8 as Wear Blue Day to recognize the month’s initiative. Put a little blue in your wardrobe to bring attention to the issue.
If you do suspect child abuse and neglect, call 224-KIDS (5437) or visit Montgomery County on line.
