DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Miami Valley YMCAs are seeing more than double their normal membership since lowering their fees last December.

Prices vary from location to location, but each one has lowered its rates by about 15 to 20 percent.

Josh Sullenberger, Vice President of Operations for Dayton area YMCAs, says they’ve seen a 130% increase in membership compared to this time last year.

“I guess we realized it over time the Y had maybe become unaffordable to some,” said Sullenberger. “Our goal as a charatiable organization is to be accessible to everyone. So we took some time to really think about where we were at in terms of membership fees and really wanted to make a corresive effort to open our doors to everybody and we were able to do that through lower membership fees.”

All the prices can be found online.
