WPAFB, Ohio (WDTN) – A busy gate at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will temporarily close starting Friday evening at 6:00 p.m.

Gate 12A will undergo security upgrades at a cost of $920,000. Gate 12A is the Air Force Materiel Command gate.

People who typically use the gate are being told to enter the base at Gate 1A. It and Gate 15A will be open 24 hours a day during the closure to help keep traffic flowing.

Base personnel says it will monitor the flow of traffic and make changes in the plan should it be necessary.

The project is expected to be complete April 27.
