DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man, who police say has a history of claiming to be a police officer, was arrested on robbery charges.
Police were on patrol near Love’s gas station Saturday around 3 a.m. when officers said they heard yelling outside and saw four men arguing.
Police said one of the men told them they were at the 19th Hole club on Nicholas Road and he drove to Love’s to drop Drake Edwards, 49, and another man off. He said when he pulled into the lot, Edwards told him he was a federal marshal, threatened to beat him up, and then took his ID.
Officers arrested Edwards for robbery and impersonating a peace officer. Edwards told police he didn’t do anything wrong.
Police said a couple days prior, Edwards also made statements that he is a federal agent, a former Dayton Police officer, and a Navy Seal.
Officers said Edwards has been arrested in the past for robbery and has a history of claiming to be a police officer.
