DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A man who allegedly fled from officers, reportedly told them he was trying to get drugs after he picked up his girlfriend’s child.
Police were in the area of Prescott Avenue and Shaftsbury Drive Friday night when they stopped a Buick for suspicious activity.
Police said the Buick fled, but they eventually stopped the vehicle and handcuffed the driver.
Officers said they found hypodermic needles, small hatchet, and knife inside the vehicle.
Police said there was also a four-year-old in the backseat.
Police arrested Charles Cline, 28. According to the report, Cline told police he was in the area to buy drugs. He said the child belonged to his girlfriend and he had just picked him up from soccer practice.
The child was picked up by his grandparents from the scene.
Cline was arrested for prohibited substance solicitation, child endangering, carrying concealed weapons, possessing drug abuse instruments, and drug paraphernalia.
