Teaching candidates work to land job at DPS job fair

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — About 200 teaching candidates turned out for a job fair at Dayton Public Schools.

A special DPS PreK-12 teacher recruitment fair kicked off Saturday at the DPS Community Room at 115 S. Ludlow St.

Principals were on site to to interview candidates and veteran educators interested in current and future positions. Several issued commitment letters.

Dayton Public Schools estimates more than 100 teachers will be eligible to retire at the end of the current school year. So far at least 80 have decided to retire, so the district is reaching out to find high-quality candidates to fill positions in high-need areas including math, science, and foreign languages.

Candidates were asked to bring resumes and portfolios.
