DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police respond to a dangerous animal complaint and find a dog dead in the middle of the street.

Police were called around 1 a.m. Saturday to East Parkwood Drive.

When officers arrived, they met with a woman and her boyfriend. The two said they were walking their dog down the street when a gray pit bull charged and attacked their dog and tried to bite them. The woman then pulled out a gun and shot the dog twice.

Police found the dog’s body in the street.

Police said the woman had a valid concealed carry permit. Police weren’t able to find the owner of the dead dog. Officers moved the dog out of the road and instructed street maintenance crews to pick it up in the morning.
