Meet the candidates: Matt Joseph

Commissioner Matt Joseph. (WDTN, Beairshelle Edmé)

“I want to be on the team that helps set up the next era of Dayton,” said Commissioner Matt Joseph, incumbent and Dayton City Commission candidate.

BIO:  Dayton City Commissioner, Serco Inc. Air Force Logistics Program Manager at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base; University of Dayton (B.A.), George Washington University (M.A.); married with two children.

PLATFORM:  Economic Development; Quality of life

“Put a little more investment into entrepreneurship. Put a little more investment into making sure that the land downtown is ready for developers to make sure our neighborhoods look a little better, maybe knock down a few more houses, do better outreach to the neighbors, like things like this that really prepare the ground for what’s gonna be a good boom for Dayton, I feel, in the next few years,” Joseph said.

QUESTION: Why should voters elect Matt Joseph?

Joseph tells 2 NEWS’ Beairshelle Edmé that he is “the right guy for the job, the right guy for Dayton.” The three-term commissioner believes his experience is a strong suit, one that he does not want to see wasted. Additionally, Joseph says he has been a part of the team to lift the Gem City out of the recession. However, he acknowledges that the city, under his leadership alongside other commissioners, has faced its difficulties, partially due to a tight budget under economic tough times. Yet, Joseph says, under these circumstances, he has been fiscally responsible, while providing basic services and continuing to listen to the community. The incumbent says he would like to continue working to see Dayton through a bright future.
