Meet the candidates: Scott Sliver

Scott Sliver (WDTN, Beairshelle Edmé).

“The thing about me is I’m a boots on the ground servant leader,” said Scott Sliver, Dayton City Commission candidate.

BIO:  Executive Director, The Hope Foundation of Greater Dayton; Assoc. Pastor, The Vineyard Church; Art Institute of Pittsburgh (A.D.); married with four children.

PLATFORM:  Business development; Fighting hunger; Heroin addiction

“Attracting business, finding entrepreneurs, turning them loose- the developers and the CEOs- and letting them do what they do best and I think its our responsibility as a commission and a city government to make it as easy for them to do it as possible,” Sliver said.

QUESTION: Why should voters elect Scott Sliver?

Sliver explains to 2 NEWS’ Beairshelle Edmé that Dayton’s best days, “are ahead of it, not behind.” His aim, if elected, is to find the modern-day innovators, who embody the spirit of Dayton icons, like Paul Lawrence Dunbar, the Wright Brothers, the Ketterings and the Pattersons. Sliver says a key to finding and keeping those individuals in the Gem City is to keep business development on the table. To increase these economic opportunities, Sliver hopes to draw on his non-profit experience, as well as his previous work with marketing and advertising. The hopeful, who describes himself as a “servant leader,” says that,”If voters want more of the same, they can have more of the same,” but if they want something different, they should vote for him.
