LEBANON, Ohio (AP) – A crash involving three semi trucks and a commercial work truck along Interstate 71 in Warren County, killed one person.

The driver of the van, Ronald C. Hoeffler, Jr., 51, of Lebanon, was killed.  The drivers of the semis, Mitchell Patterson, 53, of Mentor, David Jensen, 29, of Dayton, and Antonio Brown, 44, of Vero Beach, Florida, were not hurt.

Troopers say traffic was slow and backing up on I-71 due to a lane closure for the Jeremiah Morrow Bridge construction project.  Hoeffler’s van was stopped behind one of the semis when another came up from behind and struck the van, forcing it off the highway.  The third semi tried to avoid the crash, but struck the semis.

Traffic is expected to remain congested for much of Tuesday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
