DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A man serving life in prison for having sex with children is now accused of threatening Montgomery County prosecutors and judges.
Anthony Demar Smith, 27, is charged with ten counts of intimidation and eight counts of intimidation of an attorney.
Prosecutors say they received a letter from Smith in December 2014 in which he lists a number of people “will be targeted”.
Current and former judges as well as current and former assistant prosecutors were named in the handwritten letter.
“The fact that this defendant is angry with the sentence he received for raping two children does not excuse him for threatening those in the criminal justice system,” said Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck. “The Ohio Parole Board will be advised of his threats when he becomes eligible for consideration for parole in April, 2020.”
Smith is a Tier 3 sex offender.
He faces up to 36 months in jail on the new charges.
