DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A crash on US 35 near the Main Street exit in downtown Dayton sent one person to the hospital.

The crash happened around 2:00 p.m. in the eastbound lanes.

Investigators say a driver rear ended a construction maintenance truck that was parked on the highway with a flashing arrow sign on the back directing traffic.

The driver refused treatment, but the truck driver sitting in the truck was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment.

Investigators say the sign collapsed on impact and probably helped prevent serious injuries.

Police cited the driver of the car.
