Zengel property will remain undeveloped

CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – A unanimous decision by the Centerville Planning Commission will leave the Zengel property as it is.

Ryan Homes submitted a proposal to the planning commission looking to build 87 duplexes in the area, creating 174 units in the residential zone.

“We want to develop the property,” said Mark Locke with Ryan Homes. “We want to put homes on the property and that’s ultimately what has created this most recent submittal.”

There has been strong opposition, however, towards the development of the land for more than a year.

Residents in the surrounding neighborhood have voiced their disapproval of a development which would connect Zengel Drive and Alex-Bell Road.

The city staff also recommended the planning commission deny the proposal based on look, number of home choices, and the amount of units planned for the property.
