DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – You can help fund childhood cancer research at the Oregon District. The Trolley Stop is holding The brave the shave event for St. Baldrick’s foundation.

Community members will shave their heads to raise money and awareness for cancer research. The event organizer, Kristin Freeman, says pediatric cancer is under funded.

She says she will be shaving her head for the children losing their hair to the disease.

“That can leave people feeling pretty vulnerable,” said Freeman. “We want people to know that you are not determined by how your hair looks. And that bald is beautiful and there are people who want to stand in solidarity with you.”

People can go to the event until 9 tonight to donate money or shave their heads. Anyone who shaves their head gets a free drink. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
