Kettering cruiser damaged by fleeing suspect

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) – Kettering police went looking for a burglary suspect and ended up with a damaged cruiser.

Officers were acting on a tip from Sugarcreek police that the suspect was at the Belmont Coin and Jewelry store at 2749 Wilmington Pike.

The officer arrived and saw the suspect, who was walking out of the store at the time.

Investigators say the suspect did not respond to the officer’s command to stop. The suspect took off in an SUV, but struck the police cruiser on the way out.

The cruiser was damaged to the point where the officer could not pursue the suspect.

The officer was not hurt.

Police are looking for the suspect now. They say he was driving a Chevy Suburban.
