DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A grant is enabling researchers at the University of Dayton to work with Airbus and other aerospace manufacturers.

Ohio pledged a three year, $1.5-million investment for a technology hub.

The goal is to boost competitiveness among Ohio aerospace manufacturers.

“Ohio is a major supply base for us. We spend six billion dollars a year in Ohio and so it’s the number one partner of the states in the US and for us it’s the industry knowledge, the experience, but also the innovation,” said David Williams, Airbus Americas.

“We as a state need to rally behind our various industries. Aerospace happens to be one of the bigger industries here in Ohio. It’s a great export industry,” said John Leland, UDRI.

Airbus purchased $14.4-billion worth of aircraft in 2013.
