CLEVELAND (AP) — A former Cleveland Municipal Court bailiff who admitted using his position to get sexual favors from an inmate has been sentenced to two years in prison.
The Cuyahoga County prosecutor’s office says 45-year-old Lee Roy of South Euclid was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty to one count of bribery on March 25.
Roy was arrested Dec. 24 after investigators learned that the court employee had been kissing and performing a sex act with a suspect who was in a holding cell awaiting a court hearing. Prosecutors say he told the inmate he could help her with her case.
Assistant County Prosecutor Matthew Meyer says Roy “badly damaged the reputation of the legal system and the rest of the honest, hardworking men and women who dispense justice.”
