DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Dayton woman received a $50,000 settlement after falling off an operating table.

The Ohio Court of Claims granted the money to Barbara Sue Phillips.

She fell off the table during spinal surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in May 2014.

She was under full anesthesia at the time. Phillips hit her head causing bleeding in her brain. She underwent an emergency craniotomy as a result. She claimed in her lawsuit that the fall caused permanent disability.

The court says with the settlement, Phillips can file no future claims with the hospital.

The medical center does not admit liability in the settlement.
