Easy ways to keep your air conditioner in top shape

KETTERING, Ohio (WDTN) As the mercury climbs into the 80’s this week many of us will be turning on our air conditioning for the first time this year. But there are a few things you can to do make sure it’s in tip top shape.

Whether it’s because of the warmer temperatures or allergies air conditioners are humming around the Miami Valley. We stopped by McAfee heating and air today and President Greg McAfee says he’s seen a record number of calls today. He says getting a tune or check up before you flip the switch can help the efficiency of your air conditioner.

Change the filter as directed. Some filters last a month others may last as long as a year. Simple maintenance can keep you cool all summer long.

Greg McAfee, President McAfee says, “Keeping the filter clean and having the evaporator coil and the unit outside cleaned and that’s not part of the normal check up. Having that cleaned will make the cooling run more efficient and many times blow colder air in your home faster.”

A few other ways to keep your home cool during the day is to close blinds or shades to block the sun. Also changing the filter regularly will help with spring and summer allergies
