GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – A new contract is taking away Wright State University’s chance at hosting a the horizon league basketball tournament.

According to our partners at the Dayton Business Journal, the league approved a five year deal with a venue in Detroit to host its tournament starting next season.

We asked Greene County officials what this means for the region.

“It would be good had it been here, but really we’re not really losing anything because it wasn’t here all the time,” said Kathleen Young, Executive Director of the Greene County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Greene County is doing great. Growing by leaps and bounds. Tourist just keep coming in all different markets.”

As it stands now, every team has a chance to host the tournament, but under the new deal, the option is gone. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
