Is Tom Brady a role model?

An NFL investigation has found that New England Patriots employees likely deflated footballs and that quarterback Tom Brady was "at least generally aware" of the rules violations. The 243-page report released Wednesday, May 6, 2015, said league investigators found no evidence that coach Bill Belichick and team management knew of the practice. (AP Photo/Elise Amendola, File)

HARTFORD, Conn (WTNH) – For 10 year old Audrey it’s simple. Star quarterback and NFL legend Tom Brady is her favorite player…for now. When she sees how he reacts to the 4 game suspension handed out by the NFL, she may have to adjust her position.

“If he didn’t then yes, if he did then probably not,” Audrey said.

For the young soccer players practicing on Kennedy Field in West Hartford, they are just starting on the road to athletics, and as they learn foot skills and discipline, they are also learning sportsmanship. Something parent Ken Decker says is taught by their coaches, and something they pick up by watching professional athletes on TV.

“You want to teach sportsmanship and playing by the rules and all hopefully he will take his penalty as well and show that message to,” Decker said.

A lot of the parents News 8 talked to say yes, if Brady did it he should pay the price and serve the sentence. But they say that is if he did it, and they’re not sure how much hard evidence they have on him. They haven’t seen any clear-cut evidence that says yes he let the air out of the balls, or yes he ordered the air out of the balls. Camilla Kerr is waiting to hear how Brady will respond to the charges.

“I would still like to think he didn’t do anything wrong and that was all a mistake but if you did you know he has to pay the price,” Kerr said.

Noelle Ballesteros says the disgrace of Brady is something their kids should see. It can drive home a message better than any lecture.

“There are a lot of things you can do to get ahead in life some of them will keep you on the straight narrow others are going to have negative consequences they’re just not right I think it’s a great thing for kids to see and be a part of that.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
