Jamestown child struck while riding bicycle

JAMESTOWN, Ohio (WDTN) – A Jamestown child was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Wednesday afternoon.

The child was struck along West Xenia Street around 3:30 p.m.  Police believe the boy darted out into the street and the car did not have time to stop.

The boy was flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital for treatment.  Officers describe his injuries as serious.

Police say the boy was not wearing a helmet.  Police are investigating whether charges will be filed, but they believe it was an accident.

This is the second such incident this week.

7-year-old Kaleb Cook was struck and killed while riding his bicycle in the 1300 block of West Fifth Street in Dayton on Monday. He just received the bike that day as a gift for receiving good grades in school.
