Teen sentenced to at least 6 months in Ohio vandalism spree

NEWARK, Ohio (AP) — A 17-year-old has been sentenced to at least six months in juvenile detention for his role in a spree of vehicle vandalism in central Ohio.

The Advocate in Newark reports the teen was sentenced Friday. He may serve a sentence of at least three years, but is eligible for early release after six months.

He was arrested along with a 16-year-old and 18-year-old in March after Newark police received more than 70 reports of vehicle damage caused by BB guns within a week.

The 17-year-old admitted to a felonious assault charge and 28 misdemeanor counts of criminal damaging before his sentencing.

The 16-year old has admitted to the same counts and is scheduled for sentencing this week. The 18-year-old hasn’t yet been charged in the vandalism case.
