DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dozens of people and pets took part in a cut-a-thon for a cause Saturday.
Salon J Ladner held a marathon of hair cuts and a dog wash to support the “Have a Gay Day” fundraiser. Have a Gay Day is a non-profit organization working to combat suicide in the LGBT community.
Organizers said it was important to have a fundraiser for a cause impacting the community.
“Well I think right now, human rights and equality are in the mainstream. Bringing that to Dayton, Ohio and downtown and letting everyone know that this is normal and we are all here together. So it doesn’t matter if you are gay, straight, bi, we’re all in this together. I just love being a part of it,” said salon owner Joshua Ladner.
If you weren’t able to attend the cut-a-thon, there is still a chance to offer support. You can pick up a flyer at the salon and take it to MJ’s bar in downtown Dayton. For every flyer, the bar will donate $2 to “Have a Gay Day.”
