DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Some local scouts are making sure veterans buried at the Dayton VA Cemetery are not forgotten this Memorial Day.

Scouts from around the Miami Valley showed up at the Dayton VA Cemetery Saturday morning to decorate veterans’ graves.

Cub scouts, boy scouts, girl scouts, and the blue caps come together every year for the event to pay tribute to the fallen heroes of our nation.

Following the grave decoration, the 11th annual Patriot Freedom Festival kicked off at the Dayton VA. The festival is free and runs until 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday. The festival includes military re-enactments, guided historical tours, and live music. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
