3 in custody after attempted robbery outside grocery store

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Dayton Police took three juveniles into custody after an attempted robbery outside of a Dayton grocery store.

Police were dispatched to the More for Less store located at 444 North James H McGee Boulevard just after 11 a.m. Saturday.

Police arrived on scene and spoke with the victim. She said she was walking to her car parked outside the store when one of the suspects tried to grab her keys and cell phone. When she wouldn’t give them up, one of the suspects hit her a couple times in the face during the struggle.

The woman ran inside the store to call police.

The suspects ran from the scene, but officers spotted three juveniles who matched the description of the suspects and took them into custody. The victim positively identified the suspects. Police reported one of the suspects was carrying cocaine. He was booked into the Juvenile Justice Center on drug possession charges.
