Two in custody after standoff in Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A three hour standoff ends peacefully with two people in custody.

The SWAT team responded to the scene of an apparent standoff in Dayton shortly after 6:00 p.m. Monday.

It happened on the 3600 block of Otterbein Avenue.

Officers arrived there to locate a woman with an active warrant and she was taken into custody early on.

Police say a man was locked in the home and refused to come out, despite negotiations. However, he finally surrendered to police without incident.

According to jail records, 27-year-old Justan Cantrell is being held on preliminary charges of aggravated burglary and having weapons under disability. He’s also facing a number of misdemeanor charges related to the standoff including inducing panic and resisting arrest.

Martha Burns, 34, faces a charge of failure to appear in addition to five counts related to Monday’s incident.
