Toddlers inside SUV that hit train

GASPER TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – A pair of 21-month-old twins were riding in an SUV that hit a train Tuesday morning.

Preble County Sheriff’s Deputies say the driver, 23-year-old Melinda Noel of Winchester, KY, apparently fell asleep while northbound on U.S. 127 near Brower Road. The SUV went down a ravine and clipped the train. Both infants were in child safety seats.

All three suffered non-life threatening injuries. The toddlers were taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital; the driver was taken to Miami Valley Hospital.

Deputies tell reporter Jake Ryle that everyone involved suffered non-life threatening injuries.

U.S. 127 is open. The crash is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office and Norfolk & Southern Railroad Police.
